This complete renovation of a Craftsman-style home in San Francisco’s Noe Valley neighborhood reorganizes and expands the living space entirely within the existing building envelope, making better use of previously underutilized areas of the house.

On the main floor, interior spaces were opened to create a more generous and connected living environment, while the primary suite was reconfigured and updated for greater comfort and functionality.

Above, previously unused attic space was converted into a flexible bedroom and study, adding valuable living area without changing the exterior volume of the house. New connections to the ground floor further extend the usable space and improve circulation between levels.

By working within the existing envelope, the renovation preserves the scale and exterior character of the Craftsman home while substantially improving its interior organization. The project demonstrates how reconfiguration and adaptive use of overlooked space can accommodate contemporary living without requiring a conventional addition.
