Located in Menlo Park, CA, the renovation focused on maximizing space, enhancing functionality, and creating a stronger connection between indoor and outdoor living.

Expanding and Reconfiguring Spaces

The project features a comprehensive remodel and strategic additions, enhancing the home’s layout and usability:

• Open Living Areas: The living room and kitchen were reconfigured to foster a more open and efficient flow.

• Versatile Tatami Room: The former dining area was transformed into a flexible tatami room, offering a unique and multifunctional space.

• New Dining Room Addition: A rear addition with a striking butterfly roof creates a dramatic focal point while seamlessly connecting to the outdoor deck and yard through a continuous fold-away door.

Enhancing Indoor-Outdoor Transition

To emphasize the connection to nature, the new deck was elevated to match the dining room level, ensuring a smooth transition between indoor and outdoor spaces. This design blurs boundaries, making the outdoors an integral part of daily living.

Maximizing Light and Comfort

The renovation also focused on enhancing natural light and creating a contemporary ambiance:
