Designed in collaboration with Miyuki Yamaguchi Design Studio, this 960-square-foot retail tenant improvement in Yountville, California, draws inspiration from the craftsmanship and intricate weaving process of Panama hats.

The concept of weaving provides an organizing idea for the interior, connecting the character of the product with the architecture of the space. Materials, forms, and details reinterpret traditional craft through a contemporary retail environment while establishing a distinctive identity for the boutique.

At the center of the design is a large suspended fabric installation whose flowing form evokes the rolling vineyards and landscape of Napa Valley. The installation creates a strong visual focus within the compact interior while connecting the craft-based identity of the Panama hats to the character of Wine Country.

Together, the architecture and installation create a retail environment shaped by craft, material, and place, giving the boutique a memorable identity without competing with the products on display.
